Hello Cryptomator Team,

I wanted to bring to your attention an issue I’ve encountered with the Cryptomator app when used in conjunction with Google’s Advanced Protection Program.

It appears that Cryptomator has not been verified by Google, which leads to a couple of significant problems:

  1. Incompatibility with Google Advanced Protection: Due to the lack of verification, Cryptomator cannot be used with Google accounts enrolled in the Advanced Protection Program.
  2. Google Security Alerts: Google Security Checkup is flagging the Cryptomator app and recommending its removal.

This situation limits the functionality of Cryptomator for users who prioritize enhanced security measures, as they cannot fully integrate your app with their Google services.

Could you please look into the verification process with Google to resolve this issue? Verifying Cryptomator would ensure compatibility with Google Advanced Protection and prevent the app from being flagged during security checks.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sorry that we didn’t react in any way until now. We’ve actually been working on this with a very high priority and hoped that we can get this through quickly. Unfortunately, it’s not a simple “verification” as we were used to. We have to go through a tedious security assessment (Google CASA) and have to overcome certain blockers, which we’re still working on.

But may I ask, after this procedure, the app will also work with the Advanced Protection Program from Google too?

Still only with the mentioned “workaround” in Problem connecting to Google Drive when participating in "Advanced Protection Program".

It does not work, at least on iOS though. Since Cryptomator is all about security, this is quite a big issue IMO.
