I had been using Cryptomator desktop (free) for a while and was satisfied. Now have downloaded Android (F-Droid download).
The Android app (seemed to say) I could pay for the desktop version and use license for Android.
Paid through ProxyStore and got receipt with “order number” and “code”. Android app won’t accept either number or code (I am copying carefully). Desktop doesn’t even have an “OK/Accept” button when I enter either number or code into “support us”. Also no change occurs in ability to change desktop “look and feel” setting.
ProxyStore says there is a countdown to code deletion, so this is a time-sensitive issue.
It says " To redeem a coupon, you need to click through the regular checkout process for the Cryptomator for Desktop supporter certificate (choose the €19,99 license) or the Android app.",
but the linked Cryptomator “Supporter Certificate” page doesn’t seem to have a place to enter an already purchased code.
Did I do something wrong, or is this an issue?
Am trying to spare developer an email.
If you have been through this process, please advise. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the quick reply, SailReal, but I am still confused.
I try to use cryptocurrency for privacy/security app purchases.
The original web link that sent me to ProxyStore allowed me to use that for the recent purchase.
When I go to the Android app, it not only asks for my mailing code, and doesn’t provide for either a new purchase via crypto (only credit card or PayPal) OR accept codes already provided from my ProxyStore purchase (using crypto).
Can you clarify? Thanks.
(That link asks for a credit card, without allowing me to circumvent with a purchased key)
If you enter your purchased coupon code from ProxyStore (as described in the link above), Paddle does not ask for a credit card. This will create an license key which you then can enter into the Android app.
Ah ha! Thank you. Problem solved for Android, but …
I have pasted that same code into the “Support Us” entry in my desktop app (which I am taken to if selecting “Look and Feel” in order to use dark mode), and Cryptomator doesn’t seem to recognize that I have done so.
There is no “OK” or similar button on that Settings/Preferences tab and, after exiting the tab and settings, the “Look and Feel” is not upgraded.
I tried completely ending the task in the OS and restarting Cryptomator, but the “Support Us” entry became blank again, and upon re-entering the license, had the same non-result.
Perhaps I have misunderstood, and desktop-unlocking is a separate purchase, however, even if so, I still can’t find a way to have the desktop app accept (or reject) the code.
Here’s a screenshot:
A desktop supporter certificate is not the same as the Android license key. If you want to have also the supporter certificate, you need to buy it separately (if you use something like ProxyStore again, see How to get a supporter certificate using a coupon code).
