Maybe this is an option for you then.

How do I use Cryptomator without local sync?

You can use cyberduck.io to access cryptomator vaults directly on your cloud drive. Then you don’t need to sync the encrypted files with your local storage.

Maybe this solves also the connection problems you have when mounting your cloud storage.
