Where is the `Deleted files` folder?

Hi there,

my encrypted files are located at Dropbox. After decrytion with cryptomator, a folder opens. If I delete there a file. Where is the Deleted files folder?

Cryptomator does not have a deleted files folder and does not use the system recycle bin. If you delete a file, it is gone.

That said, Dropbox has like other big cloud storage providers the option to restore deleted files, see How to recover deleted files or folders - Dropbox Help. But keep in mind two things when using such a feature:

  1. You only see encrypted files (including encrypted filename).You have to decide by other attributes (file size, deletion date, etc) if this is the desired file.
  2. The file must be restored to the exact same location. If you restore it to your cloud storage root directory and just move it to the vault directory, it won’t be decrypted or displayed in the unlocked vault.
