Is this a stupid question, not sure. Suppose I have my vault encrypting my files & sending them to dropbox. Then the hard drive on my desktop fries. Now I have a bunch of encrypted files in dropbox. I don’t know what files are what. Is there a way to decrypt these?
Yes. You repair your desktop or by a new pc, sync your files back from Dropbox to your local system, install Cryptomator and add the vault to decrypt it.
Or you use one of the mobile apps to access your files, or you use 3rd party applications like cyberduck.
In any way: Cryptomator encryption is end2end. Means you have to have Cryptomator on a local device to decrypt the files you have stored online.
