Well, I am trying cryptomator again. I had issues that I resolved with vaults not recognizing my password so all good there. BUT I am not sure cryptomator is encrypting my folders or files.
When I create a folder, I set cryptomator to create a folder in pcloud which is the p drive (my virtual drive) and set a password and it works and I put many files there I want to encrypt and they are in that folder now but when I look in pcloud I can still see the files they look unencrypted.
So, what I did was create another vault and set that vault in pcloud in a folder where the files I want to encrypt are located and labeled the cryptomator folder >> encrypted files. and when I either lock or unlock the vault these files also do not look encrypted. What am I doing wrong? I want to be sure and be able to test the files I encrypt with cryptomator are really encrypted. The files should look like gibberish and they dont. Any idea what I am doing wrong.
When you unlock your vault, a new (virtual drive) will show up. This is where you put your files in. The folder (aka vault) you create on „p“ is the path where Cryptomator is creating the encrypted files. Do not place anything here. It will not be encrypted.
Ich lege ein Verzeichnis [VerzA] mit einem Tresor ( mit Passwort B) in pCloud an.
Wenn ich in dieses Verzeichnis Dateien kopiere, sind sie nicht verschlüsselt.
Um Dateien oder Verzeichnisse ( oder Archive ?) verschlüsselt abzulegen, muß ich meinen Tresor im VerzA mit dem PasswortA öffnen und dort die Dateien ablegen.
Wenn der Tresor geschlossen wird, sind die Dateien verschlüsselt.
Der Zugang zum VerzA erfolgt von der Stelle, wo Cryptomator geöffnet wird( in der Regel vom Desktop).
Der Zugang zu Deinem Tresor ist das virtuelle Laufwerk das in Deinem Explorer erscheint, sobald ein Tresor entsperrt wurde. Alles was Du in dieses virtuelle Laufwerk speicherst wird verschlüsselt. Alles andere nicht.
