Usb disk limitations with exfat

I purchased a new 256gb USB drive which is formatted as exfat. Created a vault on it and started copying data to the vault. At 10gb it hits problem with no free disk.

The vault shows free space upto 10gb only.

If I create another vault and check free space it too is upto 10gb free.

Usb drive is well known brand and genuine. I tested and confirmed not a fake.

Formatting it as ntfs the 10gb limitation goes away and mildly better speeds to copy data to vault.

Is exfat on usb flash drive not compatible or limited with Cryptomator?

Hi,

I have a 4 TB external SSD with exfat and it works fine. I don’t have an explanation but it should work unless there’s some sort of limitation in kryptometer reading the large Drive.

Hmm…

I’m using an external SSD rather than a flash drive. I just created a new vault and successfully added a 22 GB file.

I try and test a regular flash next and see if it works.

It was a new USB flash drive (well known brand). I have sent it for a replacement from manufacturer - will try again with replacement to see if it works any better. Like other people have mentioned, no issues with external drives but this flash drive for some reason it just limited the space allowed to just under 10GB. I could create a second empty vault on the same flash drive and it too showed as 10GB free.

I also tried Veracrypt which simply failed to detect the free space available and would not even create a vault.

Very odd will see how it works with replacement flash drive when it comes.
