Strange Behaviour with Dropbox in Recent Versions (Win 10)

Hi,

We’ve been happily using Cryptomator for several years now, combining it with Dropbox to share confidential project files among our core team and all our freelancers.

However, in recent months (since the update which included the visual overhaul), we’ve had strange issues whereby one user puts files in a vault and some users can see them, while others can’t.

We originally thought this was just an issue with vaults created with pre-visual-overhaul versions of Cryptomator, but we’ve set up some vaults since, and the issue seems to be occurring there too.

We love the tool, and don’t want to stop using it, but practically speaking, if we can’t solve this issue, it’s going to be impossible to know for sure if a file is in a given folder or not, which doesn’t really work.

Any thoughts, tips or solutions welcome (all users are using Windows 10, Dropbox, and Cryptomator 1.5.0), and apologies if this is a dupe issue - have tried to search for similar problems, but couldn’t see any.

Thanks,

Oli

Sounds like a sync issue to me.
You can test this by connecting to you online vault directly using cyberduck.
A file that is not available there was not synced from the creating machine to Dropbox.
A file that is available via Cryptomator but is not on a local machine was not synced to it.
In both cases please check you Dropbox client settings.
Maybe there are error messages in your Dropbox client that some files were prevented from sync?

Thanks so much for getting back to me on this. Thankfully, updating to version 1.5.5 seems to have resolved the issue, and now all files are appearing as expected. Phew!
