Store the masterkey in the cloud?

Hello
I use Cryptomator to encrpyt my datas, then store them on publics clouds.
But I wonder if it’s a good idea to send too the masterkey.cryptomator? With the key, someone could be open my stored vaults, without my password? So maybe i should only send the “d” directory and its content?
Thank you, I hope to be reassured

No, you need your password as well.
This will interest you: Why is the masterkey stored in the cloud?

What Michael says is correct (obviously). Still, like you mentioned, I store the key elsewhere, as well as rename the “D” folder, as a form of obfuscation.

BTW… my tinfoil hat is a size 8 :sunglasses:

But keep in mind that if you do that the vault is not usable anymore. You’ll have to undo these changes if you want to access the vault. I do not recommend any manual changes to the vault.
