Some programs in Windows do not recognize Cryptomator drives

I am using the latest version of Cryptomator on a PC with W11 pro SP 24H2.

I have connected two drives via Cryptomator (both WinFsp (Local Drive)). When I try to access the drives in certain programs (e.g., Ultrasearch), the Cryptomator drives are not displayed in the Open dialog box.

In Windows Explorer and most other Windows programs, however, the drives are displayed without any problems.

Does anyone else have the same problem, or does anyone have any tips on how to solve it?

By default when you open the vault it mounts it to a new Drive letter that only exists while the vault is open and unlocked. If you other software cannot see that Windows Drive first try closing the app and not opening it until after the vault is unlocked. If that still does not work for you then you can in the software Mount The Vault to a folder rather than a drive and that might work better for you.

I have the same issue as brought up by mibre99. Thanks!

How does is work opening the vault into a folder instead of a drive. This then could solve some of my issues with Cryptomator.

You need to select a volume type which supports this and then select in the vault options the mountpoint to be a directory. For more info, read

Thank you very much for your support. I will test it over the next few days and let you know the results.

I’ve now managed mounting the vault to a folder instead of a drive. The behaviour is slightly different, but my issues with Windows programms persist.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks LeoW,

Your suggestion helped: simply starting Ultrasearch after Cryptomator solved the problem, and I´m still working with drives instead of folders.
