Restoring a single backuped encrypted file

Hello

I have a small problem with restoring a file from an image backup

Since I cannot back up the virtual drive of Cryptomator “G” directly with my backup software and a copy of the cloud data is already synchronised on my desktop anyway, the encrypted Cryptomator files are now available as an image.

So far, so secure.

Now a single file of the cloud data, which is separated into several folders and subfolders, has been corrupted.

I have not found a way to restore this single file from the encrypted, backed-up data.

I don’t want to restore the image of the entire system partition just because of the file, as this would also write back all the previously changed files that I want to keep.

What is the best way to restore the one file?

How can I get the name of the encripted file?

One idea I had was to back up the Cryptomator folder that is in the synchronised Dropbox folder somewhere, open it, copy the file and later put it in the correct Cryptomator folder in ‘G’.

However, as I don’t want to cause any more damage than has already been done, I would like to clarify how to proceed correctly here or whether there are other possibly simple solutions.

Many thanks

Thorsten

Just drag a file from within your vault over the area in the cryptomator app that says “find encrypted file”

It’l then will show the corresponding encrypted file.

I did not see that button before, must be a kind of blindness
