Hello,
I’m facing a grave bug on cryptomator for android. I have the paid version of the app, i configured a vault to autoupload the new photos into onedrive.
This is the second time a lot of those photos, that should be only into the vault and encrypted, are UPLOADED UNENCRYPTED ON ROOT ONEDRIVE, so i can see the picture in onedrive sites and folder without encryption!
Idk how this happen or why this happen, but this is a massive breach into privacy and security, this make cryptomator really useless for me in this scenario. Imagine the suprise to open random onedrive and see those photos in clear view!
This is an issue with your onedrive settings. Cryptomator only uploads encrypted files, hence, oneDrive must have uploaded the files.
@Bifrost did you manage to resolve this? I have run into the same problem.
Sometimes the upload for cryptomator fails because the onedrive token needs to be refreshed and then photos get uploaded into the onedrive root unencrypted.
I have validated that the photo upload in onedrive is deactivated. And when I used to use it, it would upload into a Photos folder, not into the root folder.
So the cryptomator photo upload works sporadically which makes it very unreliable.
Hi,
For testing purposes and to duplicate your problem I have set up Auto photo upload on a new vault on OneDrive.
It seems that it’s only Auto uploading new pictures and screenshots not all of the ones that are on my phone is that what you experienced?
So far it seems to be working normally.
No that’s not my problem. I observed that as well but that’s actually a behavior that I want.
The problem is the following: I sometimes get the error notification that the upload failed because I need to sign in again into onedrive (as it is described in this issue OneDrive vaults don't remain unlocked, breaking automatic photo uploads · Issue #495 · cryptomator/android · GitHub). When I click the notification, it says that it successfully uploaded the images now but when I check the vault they are not there.
At first I thought that I’d just wait but then I saw that they are located in my onedrive root, outside of any vaults.
Like I said, it works sometimes but not always.
Ok. I see.
I’ve been unlocking the vault after 10 minutes Of an activity it auto locks I’m going to change it so that it stays unlocked all the time And see if mine behaves like yours does over the next few days.
Thanks for that!
Just a small update, hopefully it makes it more precise.
I’ve just taken a picture, the upload raised the error notification. When I clicked that, I got the notification that the upload was in process and it started the upload. However, the photo is not in the vault but in the onedrive root (which previously had no photos, so I know that they appeared from that upload which is also confirmed by the timestamp).
Also it uploads photos that are already in the vault, so not just the new photo but some others as well.
Ok, I’ll get back to you with a follow-up posting in a few days. Let you know how my screenshots and photos are doing uploading automatically. And I’ll check for jpegs in my root of my drive.
