Panic! First time user lost all his treasured memories

Hi

I’m using macOS.

I created a vault.

Then moved a 9GB folder to the C folder (didn’t use the mounted volume - stupid I know).

Hit lock.

Then unlock.

And it has completely gone.

Checked file sizes and it doesn’t exist.

Searched entire drive using multiple methods.

Only thing that maybe gives me hope is the amount used doesn’t match by about 12gb.

What should I do now?

I’m so afraid I’ve lost this folder.

Any help much appreciated.

It has to be on disk somewhere. That discrepancy is literally the size of my folder.

If you moved your folder to C and you know that C is not your vault, then the folder has to be found in C. Otherwise something other must have happen.

Cryptomator does only encrypt what is stored in your virtual drive that appears when you unlock a vault.

If you don’t copy/move into/from the vault, Cryptomator is not involved in any file operation.

Ah it must have been rclone :frowning: thanks for your reply anyway
