Overlay Settings in Android

Hallo,
i’ve a MIUI 11 and deactive all overlay apps. But Cryptomator tells me, that the overlay is still active. Cannot open the settings.

Do you have any tips ?

Thank you very much.

Hey and welcome to the community :slightly_smiling_face:!

We’ve documented this in https://docs.cryptomator.org/en/latest/android/settings/#block-app-when-obscured.

Can you please check if there is really no overly active? Follow e.g. this tutorial to verify it: https://www.howtogeek.com/271519/how-to-fix-the-screen-overlay-detected-error-on-android/

Hi,

thank you for your reply. I’ve already deactivate all Special System settings that are causing with the overlay function. But Cryptomator shows the error nervertheless.

Hmm too bad

What smartphone and Android version do you have?

I’ve a Xiaomi Redmi 9 and its Android 10 with MIUI 11

You really made 100% sure that no screen overlay is allowed for any app?

Hello.
I have a Xiaomi F1 with MIUI 12 and am experiencing the same problem. I have disabled night mode and also disabled permission to draw over other apps for all apps, except System UI, for which it cannot be disabled. But there is no way I can start cryptomator, it keeps complaining about being obscured. Is there a way of forcing cryptomator to star, or knowing exactly what is preventing it from starting?
Thank you.

Hey and welcome to the community :slightly_smiling_face:!

If your phone is rooted, you can edit the preference file directly and set disableAppWhenObscured to false.

Unfortunately no, the operating system does not provide this information as far as I know.

Hello.

That solved the problem.
Thank you!
