OneDrive - Problems with synchronization

I noticed that there are problems with smooth synchronization of encrypted files in Cryptomator folders.
OneDrive is clearly waiting for the Cryptomator to slow down access to these files and do not synchronize them. After starting the Cryptomator, the OneDrive state is still “searching for changes”, it practically never achieves a state “synchronized”. This happens only after the Cryptomator is turned off.
This lack of cooperation also generally affects the saving of files. It is not uncommon for the computer to just stand because it is waiting for some record.
The situation returns to a normal state or when you stop / turn off the OneDrive (then everything works, only there is no synchronization), or when the Cryptomator turns off (then files from the Cryptomator folders synchronize, but there is no access to the original files).
For today, the only way out is to work with the onedrive suspended / disabled and from time to time turning off the Cryptomator and turning on OneDrive to make everything synchronize with the cloud.

Can this problem be removed somehow?

Hi,

Mixing encryption (cryptomator) and synchronization may not always be smooth. I find it much more reliable to use a utility program like rclone to mount OneDrive to either a drive letter or folder and use the files that are directly on the OneDrive rather than files that are synchronizing back and forth to your PC.

You will find this much more stable.

You’ll find this particularly useful and stable when your primarily accessing document files that are not huge.

You also want to make sure that your vault directory is marked in OneDrive to always be available locally and not only store it in the cloud. By having it only be in the cloud you’re forcing a sync job every time you open a file.

Im using OneDrive with many vaults and do not have any sync issue with the OneDrive client. To me it seems not to be a general issue.

I agree. Sometimes the PC speed or the internet connection speed can get in the way and connecting directly without syncing tends to be more reliable in unstable conditions. If it’s not working with sync trying out direct connection is a logical test to see if it works better for this particular person.

Windows only allows you to connect to one Microsoft account at a time and rclone lets me connect to my second Microsoft account simultaneously.

I guess in part I just don’t like the Microsoft syncing. I prefer to mount OneDrive as a drive letter.
