No write access to vault directory

After the update to 1.15.2, The cryptomator (desktop) is no longer working.

I have a vault, the directory is in the dropbox. After the update, I always get the message “No write access to vault directory: Cryptomator cannot write to the vault directory. You can change the vault to be read-only and try again. This option can be disabled in the vault options”. I can still read or copy the files, but no longer able to modify the files.

I tried all different volume types, none of them works at all. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the app, also didn’t work.

The funny thing is, the mobile version of the Cryptomator which I paid for it, works perfectly and can add files to the same vault that doesn’t work using the desktop app. (So obviously a paid app is better than a free app).

I also tried to setup a new vault and set the storage location to the dropbox, but it says “no write access at the specified path”. I can still add or delete files in the dropbox directly without using the vault.

Please advice.

Would a specialist here offer some assistance please?

Welcome to the Cryptomator Community :slightly_smiling_face:

i cannot reproduce this. I created a vault on brand new Windows 11 system inside the dropbox synced folder and unlocked it. It unlocked without a problem, i.e. read- and writable.

In general: Cryptomator tests write access to the vault location by creating a temporary directory inside the vault storage location and deletes the directory afterwards. The directory is named c. If you delete this directory, can you unlock the vault regularly?

Also, ensure that you have write access in general to the vault storage location and ensure that the vault is marked as “available offline”.
