iOS app running overnight while charging

I recently purchased the app on iOS and I noticed that the app is running or doing something overnight while the phone is charging. I’m using the latest version from the store. I have the default lock and other settings on the app, but it seems odd that this is doing something and running constantly throughout the night. Something’s not right. Is this something that needs addressing? Is there a setting that makes this happen overnight? What’s going on here?

You can see from the activity that it’s running from 11pm onwards.

I wonder if it would be helpful to ask what your device might be doing with the files in the vault during that time period. I don’t have any knowledge of how Cryptomator works, but my understanding is that it only acts when files in the vault change in some way. That seems safe to say, but probably there’s more to know.

You’re absolutely right. It would be helpful if someone either pointed out what is going on in the docs or just explain it here.

Im using Cryptomator on iOS and iPadOS on iCloud, WebDAV and gdrive and have no background activity of the app at all - must have something to do with your setup or your cloud storage and not in general with the app

So you’re not seeing any background activity during the hours you’re asleep?

I’m using pCloud. Not sure if that makes a difference.

3 min background activity in the last 10 days - all after using a vault an changing or adding files … so no unexpected behaviour at all

Never used pcloud, so can’t say anything about that … is there a config file or something like that that is constantly changing from the pcloud side ?

Not sure how or why that would be happening.

A few days ago I did change the unlock duration in the settings to 5 minutes instead of “let iOS decide”. I don’t know if this fixed the problem but I’m seeing less background nighttime activity. I say less as there is still activity. I still wish it were zero.
