How to 'recover' cryptomator with missing vault and keyfile

So I had cryptomator in a few different locations. One of them had quite a bit of data - which I don’t remember having (I only had a vault of so I thought about 200 MB or so - this is 5 GB).
Anyway, it’s missing the vault and keyfile.
I can’t recall where I saw the instructions but the instructions said to install the app version 1.6.8, create a new vault using the same password, then copy the vault folders over. I did that, and then an error came up saying - something about a problem with each folder. I checked each box for each folder (I’m an idiot, I probably should have stopped right there). Now I have an unlocked vault with 5 GB of folders root folder is CRYPTOMATOR_RECOVERY . In there are a ton of folders, names like 23U5JDHS2ECCD25BZVGB2N47BQ35BVAH for a folder name. in there are files; file2_gri , file1_iou, etc. Maybe 4-5 files per folder. some 0 bytes, some 459 bytes, etc.
Am I totally SOL? Is my data lost?

Any suggestions on what to try?

In the ‘locked’ vault folder is a folder “d”, in there, what appears to be the standard structure, 23, 2A, 2B, 2C, etc.

Thanks

Here is how to create a masterkey file from the recovery passphrase.

If you have a backup of your vault try to start new.
Or at least try to undo what you did so far.
Creating a new vault with same password and then copying the encrypted vault files to it will not work.

So without the masterkey file and vault key file am I SOL?

If you also don’t have the recovery pass phrase, yes.

This looks like you used the health check of Cryptomator.
