How to encrypt very sensitive files both locally and on the cloud? What’s the best option?

Hello everyone, I have trouble understanding whether I should use Cryptomator in my case or not.

My goal is to protect my sensitive files (banking, medical, family, business, etc.) from burglars and malware while ensuring accessibility by storing them both locally and in the cloud.

Since I need to upload these files to the cloud, I can’t just use VeraCrypt because, from what I know, if I need to modify a file, I have to edit the entire container.

However, I also can’t rely on Cryptomator for local encryption because, as stated in the Security Target page, “Protection of the files on the local computer is not the focus of Cryptomator.”

At this point, I’m very confused about the best solution for encrypting sensitive files both locally and in the cloud.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi.
I recommend to encrypt your entire local system using tools like veracrypt or bitlocker, and in addition use Cryptomator for your online files.
You don’t have to choose between both solutions, you can just use both at the same time.

Same for mobile devices. I keep them encrypted and use Cryptomator in addition for my online files)
