How can my friend decrypt the encrypted files on Google Drive?

Hi, I am a beginner and I am in need of help.

I have uploaded the vault to my Google Drive. I shared my vault with a friend.

Does my friend also need Cryptomator to decrypt the files?

I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I do not know the answer.

As cryptomator is doing the encryption an decryption: yes he does.

To be precise: He does need software that can open cryptomator vaults. This is typically one of the cryptomator apps, but he can also use 3rd party software that does support cryptomator vaults. Like cyberduck for example.
