Error -36 when trying to make directory at root level in Finder

Related but not the same: Error -36 - cannot do file operations

I get “The operation can’t be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -36).” when trying to make a new directory at the root level (e.g. if the drive is called A, then I’m trying to make the new directory A/B).

I GET this error when right-click then “New Folder” in directory A (ROOT LEVEL) in Finder.

I GET this error when doing “Command-Shift-N” in directory A (ROOT LEVEL) in Finder.

I DO NOT get this error when “mkdir B” in the command line in directory A (ROOT LEVEL).

I DO NOT get this error when drag-and-drop folder into directory A (ROOT LEVEL).

I DO NOT get this error when I make a NESTED directory A/B/C when already in directory A/B.

I have updated to latest version 1.18.0 of Cryptomator and version 5.1.2 of macFUSE.
