Despite using WinFsp: Virtual drive only has capacity of the system drive

Here are many threads about this problem and WinFsp seems to solve the issue for everyone - except for me.

Here is my setup:

  • Windows 10
  • Cryptomator 1.14.2
  • Mounting Volume Type: WinFsp
  • System drive: 1 TB NTFS
  • Storage drive: 4 TB NTFS

What am I missing?

Hi. Storage drive is an internal HD and there is your vault located?

Hi, yes, the storage drive is an internal M.2 SSD and the vault is located there (Google Drive).

Mmh. Then the vault should show a capacity of 4 TB. (No matter wich online storage you are using)
If WinFSP 2023 is installed and configured ad volume type (or leave the volume type to “automatic”, then also WinFSP is selected).
Maybe there is something wrong with your WinFSP installation so cryptomator falls back to WebDAV. Can you check and maybe reinstall WinFSP 2023?

I downloaded the installer linked in the Cryptomator docs and it didn’t work at first (“WinFsp 2023 Setup Wizard ended prematurely”). I simply uninstalled the application and the re-installation worked. However, this did not solve the issue unfortunately.

Mhm, I’m out of ideas. If WinFSP is installed and the mount settings are WinFSP then you should see the capacity of the internal storage where your vault is located.

Thanks so far. Would logs help to see what’s wrong?

Maybe. Any WARN or ERROR Messages in there?

Found it: The “local cached files directory” setting of Google Drive was still located on the system drive. I didn’t notice that (by looking at the storage drive utilization) because my Google Drive is still quite empty.
Thank you for your fast support, Michael!
