Delete encrypted files

Hi,

If I have an encrypted folder in my Dropbox that is accessible via the finder sidebar, is it possible for somebody who has access to my computer to delete the encrypted folders or does it need the password also? I ask because I realized that files encrypted with the software Encrypto for instance can be deleted without any confirmation which does not seem safe to me.

Thanks!

Hello to the Community

In short: No password is needed to delete a vault/ the encrypted files.

Cryptomator is a encryption tool, meaning that it protects you from data theft and ensures that no one except you can read the data.

But it does and can not protect from malicious data removal/alteration. The only real protection against such acts are making backups, since in the worst case your harddrive is just smashed of this is the goal of the attacker.
