Defining virtual drive

Hello, is it possible to define a fixed drive letter on Win11 for the Cryptomator vault, for example “D:”? And how?
As it does not appear in the disk management window I cannot define it there as a fixed one…
Thanks!

Hi,

Yes. Although I doubt it will appear in the windows Drive manager program.

In the app highlight the Vault that you want to modify on the left.

In the lower right hand corner of the main app there is a gear icon labeled Vault options.

Open vault options and then select the mounting tab.

In the lower half of the window there will be an option called mount point and in there you can assign a specific Drive letter that it will repeat every time.

Great, many thanks! These options were a new world to me!!

When you have some external Drives and change USB ports, it can happen that this doesn’t work. A good solution is to choose a letter that is high up in the alphabet - like V or the like. SO there is very little danger that this drive letter is used by the system!

Or another solution is to choose drive letter A or B that was used in an old era for floppy discs. At work, we have so many drive letters that I can’t use letter as far as Z ! USB drive will get D, or E on my system. A and B are never used.

Thank you very much to all the responders! :green_heart:
