I want to create a Cryptomator Vault on a network share. Multiple clients need to access the vault at the same time. During my tests I found out that this is possible. I used WinFSP (Local Drive) for this on all clients.
Absolutely nothing should sync to any cloud, meaning the vault, as well as the files within it, must remain locally at all times.
Is this possible? As far as I know, Cryptomator is used primarily for Cloud Syncing but as I have a different use case I wasn’t so sure.
Hi.
Cryptomator does not care if you sync your encrypted vault files to an online storage or not, as this is done by the online storage provider apps.
So feel free to use it just offline if you want to.
What about his reference to multiple people accessing the same vault at the same time? It seems to me that if two people try and open the same file they’re going to have the same problem that they would have if it weren’t in a vault that was unlocked.
Does file locking apply inside the vault?
I’ve never tested it but I couldn’t see where there might be some problems if 10 people are trying to access the same vault.
