Cryptomator for iOS with Proton Drive

Is there already a specific date/specific plans for the integration of Proton Drive into the Cryptomator app for iOS?

Hi.
Im afraid not.

thank you for this information, michael!

I understand… and I am aware that the further development of Cryptomator is no easy task. All the more reason for users to appreciate the work of the developers responsible.

But tobihagemann (tobihagemann (Tobias Hagemann) · GitHub) writes:

"It would be possible, yes. Our cloud storage service implementations can be found here: GitHub - cryptomator/cloud-access-swift: Swift library for accessing various cloud providers incl. Cryptomator vaults

I’ll be honest, it also totally depends on our roadmap if we have the capacity to implement new services. E.g., we’re currently adding support for Box."

Perhaps someone has some new information on this now that the integration of Box has been successfully completed?

I’d love to see this become an option for sure!

Proton Drive has already a zero-access encryption model. What would be the benefit except for mounting proton drive locally over a vault?

That’s an obvious thought. But first of all, we shouldn’t believe everything we’re told (after all, it’s our personal data we’re talking about), and secondly, it’s better to be safe than sorry, as they say. Right?

I think Protons independent security audits are no joke.

In this case it would be better to store personal data on a crypto stick FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and hide it on a secure place. Right?

Please understand me correctly: I didn’t mean to say that the Proton promise is a joke. But better safe than sorry…

The FIPS 140-2 Level 3 crypto stick is a good idea. It could be done. But unfortunately, it doesn’t make much sense if you have to work on the encrypted files on several devices at the same time and possibly together with others.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions, Spock! There’s no need for us to engage in another war of words here. I accept that your expectations and usage are different from mine. I need an encrypted cloud and would welcome being able to use Cryptomator together with Proton for several reasons. And my thread was not intended to discuss or talk this to death, but to find out if and when this can be expected.

To shorten this: no it actually not possible.

It will be possible as soon as the feature request I linked above was implemented. But there’s no ETA for this and I would not expect this in the near future.

Thank you, Michael, for your clear statement. But one should never give up hope…
