Vault is missing a .cryptomator file, can I still access it?

Hello,

I did a large backup one year ago using Cryptomator on a onedrive folder.

I recently wanted to open it and updated Cryptomator to the latest version.

Cryptomator doesn’t find a valid vault. I have 100GB of data in folders called D and M in the vault folder but no file .cryptomator

Can I still access the vault ?

Welcome to the Cryptomator Community

Depends. If there exists a file ending with .bkup, then yes because this is a backup of your masterkey file. Just rename it to masterkey.cryptomator, say loud to the screen “Open sesame!” and the vault will unlock.

If such a file does not exists, you are screwed.
