Not possible to add a new file to the container on Android

As soon as I want to add a new file (txt, xls, md, etc.) to the container on Android, it locks and is encrypted. What am I doing wrong?

Hey and welcome to the Cryptomator Community :slightly_smiling_face:,

Please write step by step what you did, what happened and what you expected to happen.

I want to move a file created on the Android device into an open cryptomator container.

  • +
  • Upload file
  • Select the file in the file manager
  • At the same time the container locks.

I have to re-enter the password, but the selected file is not in the container.
The file type should not matter (txt, xls, md).
Whats going on here?

Cryptomator for Android does have a auto lock. The default timeout is 1 minute. Is it possible that it took longer than 1 minute to select the file for upload (after leaving the app with the click on the “+” button)? If so you can increase the timeout duration in the Cryptomator settings or disable it completely, see

Autolock shows “immediately”, I didn’t understand.
Thank you for your help.

Immediately means that the vault gets immediately locked when you leave the Cryptomator app which is the case when you select the file for uploading. Change it to 1 minute or more and it will work.
