Hi to all
THIS IS OLY A HINT, NOT an actual issue to me.
I ran into the issue that I could no longer unlock my vault after upgrading MacOS.
Luckily I installed and created a test vault BEFORE upgrading macOS to 15.3.2
Before:
I could use cryptomator as expected
After:
I could no longer unlock and Cryptomator was stuck in unlocking process
Additionally I note that AFTER upgrade there was just a drive ‘d’ to be shown in Finder.
Staff notice: Backup your vault before executing the following steps, since the vault directory is deleted in the process
Here is what I did, but may not be suffice if there were already data in u’r vault:
0) deactivated autostart launch of Cryptomator not to get autostarted again
- since I also could not uninstall Cryptomator, since it was still trying to unlock my vault(?):
→ Login on Terminal and as sudo: entering pswd for normal user - did an ‘rm -rf /parent-directory-where-vault-is-stored’
- got into /Applications folder and did ‘rm -rf Cryptomator.app’ ; also as sudo
- also checked if nearly everything was deleted/cleaned-up
- reboot my Mac
- Upgraded MacOS
- Reinstalled/Reconfigured Cryptomator and my vault.
- Is now running/working as expected.
Additionally now I noted that there are now two drives in the vault’s directory to be found:
‘c’: the data drive I think, and:
‘d’: the drive containing all the encrypt/decrypt informations.
So I do not know exactly what happened during my upgrade and why unlocking did no longer work. Reinstalling all helped in my case.
BUT: If u already have data in your vault: DO A BACKUP BEFORE UPGRADING.
Hope this helps anybody.
Regards,
Roger
