I have made a google takeout worth 100gb, which is divided into 25 .zip files worth 4gb’s
essentially my to-do plan is to download all 100gb files, make a vault and put those files into cryptomator vault,
then upload(sync) them to mega, since i decided to move from google drive & OneDrive to mega.
is there some prerequisites I need to take care of when putting zipped files in cryptomator? Am I signing myself up for file error related troubles in the future, or my plan is right and up to standards.
also is there a way to encrypt my mega drive automatically? i have 300gb worth of files that i don’t want to download sequentially and then encrypt them manually.
No. Zip files are just files. Nothing special to care about
Im afraid no. You can’t encrypt files online at the storage because Cryptomator is end2end. So all files you want to encrypt have to be local available at some point.
Mega cloud service is already end to end encrypted. There is no real reason to double encrypt the data unless it’s something that you really want to do.
I also have a mega account. What I do there is leave most everything alone because it’s already encrypted and cannot be read by Mega. You absolutely can put a vault on the server and put your files in there.
Mega has a second client app for windows that allows you ultimately to map a Windows Drive letter to your mega account and open the vault directly without having to synchronize it back and forth to your PC.
It’s called megacmd. When you run that software in a command window it lets you mount your mega account as webdav and then in Windows you can map a drive letter to that webdav link and it works really well. I can answer any questions if that’s something that you’re interested in?
