Does Cryptomater care about old file/folder versions mixed in?

I plan to use Filen.io to upload the encrypted folder, but one of it’s sync modes is Local backup. So it takes whatever is in the encrypted folder and just backs it up. It will only add things, never remove things from the backup.

So if I add/remove things from the folder, the file/folder names may change after encryption, but the original versions will then be mixed in with the new ones.

So if I ever have to restore from the backup, it will be a mess. But if I try to decrypt, will Cryptomater even care about old files being mixed in?

Or is it better not to do local backup and just do a straight 2-way sync?
