Cryptomator vault on external SSD for secure data storgare

Hi

I would like to create a Cryptomator vault on an external SSD (for secure data backup). Apparently, this does not encrypt the entire drive. What can I do to prevent temporary files (and thus unencrypted data) from being written to the drive when I open the Cryptomator vault? Files that, although deleted later, could be reconstructed by a thief, for example? Or does the decryption not take place on the external hard drive at all, but rather on the connected computer? In other words, are no temporary files saved on the external drive at all? And therefore, is there also no risk that these deleted temporary files could be recovered? So basically, remains the unencrypted part of the external hard drive “untouched”?

Thank you very much!!!

Cryptomator does not write unencrypted data to your HD. Nevertheless there are better options to fully encrypt an external drive. Like Veracrypt or Bitlocker and other.
